Kennedy Meadows

We're at Kennedy Meadows and so stoked to be here. We're still not quite out of the desert (we hit it again past Yosemite and when we're in Southern Oregon) but we have the High Serria passes to look forward to. We hit our thru-hike record of 28 miles in one day. Thanks to our Uncle Rob and Aunt Deb for all the awesome jerky!

We hit the 500 mile marker yesterday and boy are we hungry. You can never get enough to eat on a 4,000 calorie diet (I've lost 17 pounds already). Send us hiker food:

Wrightwood, California

We're in Wrightwood, we're at the 350 mile mark, and we're about halfway through section D. Lots of great pictures but we can't post them yet cause we dont have the right cord. We're staying at a very nice house with a cool trail angel named David and we've met tons of cool people. We're both well, even with blisters and tons of stress injuries. We're starting to catch up to a lot of people because everyone is taking their time getting to the Serrias since the snow pack is pretty hefty this year. We've also encountered a lot of seasonal streams that were not supposed to be running because of a lot of precipitation this year.

Idyllwild, California

We've finished section A and hit the 100 mile marker. Woohoo! Right now we're in Idyllwild refueling and hanging out after our mountain adventure (we got stuck in a snow storm on top of the San Jancinto mountains and found the trail impassable). We have lots of pictures coming soon!

Day 1 - Campo, California

We arrived in San Diego last night after a grueling 37 hour train ride. Train alcohol is way too overpriced. Its like $5.25 for a beer. We made some friends and the views were fantastic. We saw the ocean and whales from the observation car. We checked into our hostel at 2 am last night. After a pancake breakfast, a last minute supply run, and some sushi for lunch we'll be taking a two hour long bus ride to Campo, CA and hitting the trail around 5:30 pm tonight!

The Pacific Crest Trail 2,650 Miles

Zigzagging its way 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) boasts the greatest elevation changes of any of America's National Scenic Trails, allowing it to pass through six out of seven of North America's ecozones including high and low desert, old-growth forest and artic-alpine country. Indeed, the PCT is a trail of diversity and extremes. From scorching desert valleys in Southern California to rain forests in the Pacific Northwest, the PCT offers hikers and equestrians a unique, varied experience.

Over the past decade the PCT has become a favorite target of thru-hikers and thru-riders (the hearty souls who attempt to hike or ride an entire long-distance trail in one "season"). Each year, in fact, an average of 300 hikers attempt to cover the full length of the PCT (thru-riders are more rare but increasing in number). Thousands of other hikers and equestrians enjoy this national treasure each year, some traveling only a few miles in the course of a day hike.
